Nigella Strawberry Jam is a traditional fruit preserve made with fresh strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. The mixture is slowly cooked until it thickens and develops a vibrant flavor.
Fresh strawberries (1 kg, hulled) – Choose ripe strawberries for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
Granulated sugar (750 g) – Helps preserve the fruit and gives the jam its thick texture.
Lemon juice (2 tablespoons) – Balances sweetness and helps the jam set properly.
Wash the strawberries carefully and remove the green tops. Cut larger berries into halves or quarters so they cook evenly.
Place the strawberries in a large saucepan and add the sugar and lemon juice. Stir gently so the fruit becomes coated with sugar.
Place the pan over medium heat. Stir slowly as the sugar dissolves and the strawberries begin releasing their juice.
Increase the heat and allow the mixture to reach a steady boil. Continue cooking while stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat slightly and allow the jam to cook for about 15–20 minutes. During this time the fruit softens and the mixture thickens.
Place a small spoonful of jam onto a chilled plate. If it wrinkles slightly when pushed with your finger, the jam is ready.
Sterilize glass jars by washing them with hot water and drying them in a warm oven.
Carefully pour the hot jam into the sterilized jars and seal them tightly.
Allow the jars to cool completely before storing in a cool place.
